Right when I was taking this photo, some random Asian 20-year-old couple walked by, saying "Ugh, international tourists with their DSLRs". I laughed with my friend, because we're such "international tourists" from the next state over.

I got off at the 5th Ave. subway stop mistakenly
(I had thought a place that we were going was close by, but I was way off) so I
decided to walk around.

This is a reference to George Orwell's Animal Farm. While most of the allusions were rather shallow, I still thought it was cool.

I had no idea what this alluded to but after some Googling, it's an allusion to Marcel Proust, who's a French novelist. One of his famous quotes from his novels was "Longtemps je me suis couché de bonne heure (For a long time, I've been going to bed early)."

I thought this was pretty neat to have the season’s clothes
displayed in this fashion (no pun intended, har har har). Have you seen any
other pop culture references to literature?

OMG, those Bergdorf displays are amazing! A book lover's dream. And don't feel bad about DSLR = tourist, I did the same exact thing when I bought my DSLR...and I live in the SAME state...haha.
ReplyDeleteI work right near here + I had no idea this had happened! What a cool idea for a window display! Love to see your love of NYC and all your pics. I never get tired of it!
